โTranscendenceโ is often thought of as โgetting out of here.โ At the same time, transcend can also mean โgetting in hereโ through creativity (i.e., transcend any situation with vitality: over, under, around, through, and beyond).
โSince life cannot tolerate a standstill, a damming up of vital energy results, and this would lead to an insupportable condition did not the tension of the opposites produce a new, uniting function that transcends themโ (Jung, 1926).
Spirituality creates creativity with transformational processes; we aspire to transcend matter with life, life with mind, and finally, mind with Spirit.
โI would venture to regard the sum total of our findings under the aspect of four stages, namely confession, elucidation, education and transformation." (Jung, Collected Works of C, G. Jung, Vol. 16. 2nd ed., Princeton University Press, 1966, (pp. 53 -75), par. 122)
